Adopt-A-School Program

AdoptOpen Enrollment for JAMPACT's Adopt-A-School Program

JAMPACT is pleased to announce the rollout of its enhanced Adopt-A-School Program! The focus of this program is to provide assistance to early childhood institutions/basic schools in Jamaica in order for them to attain certification from the Early Childhood Commission (ECC) - the regulatory body for early childhood institutions.

JAMPACT is aware of the challenges faced by many early childhood institutions as they try to meet ECC standards. Failure to meet these standards could result in school closure thereby leaving already underserved communities with one less vital institution.

Schools are required to apply to the Adopt-A-School program by completing and submitting an application with required forms to the Education Committee of JAMPACT for review.

Applications can be downloaded by visiting JAMPACT's website at www.jampact.org.   The completed application with all required documents and signatures must be submitted via email to  education@jampact.org or regular mail to the address below.  The application deadline is August 31, 2014.

Schools will be notified by email that their application has been received and is being reviewed.  It is imperative that the program application be completed and returned by the required deadline in order to allow adequate review and execution of a joint agreement between JAMPACT and the school.

Faxed applications will not be accepted and applications received after August 31, 2014 will be rolled over to the next administrative year.

School Supply and Toy Drive

On May 24th, JAMPACT, in collaboration with Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill, kicked off its annual school supply and toy drive benefiting early childhood institutions in Jamaica. This year's drive, duly named JAMPACT/Golden Krust School Supply and Toy Drive, was launched in Brooklyn at the 998 Flatbush Avenue Golden Krust location, operated by franchisee Stanley Dennis.

Omar Hawthorne, Golden Krust; Gloria Messam, VP JAMPACT; Latalya Morrison, Golden Krust; Angella Golding, Fundraising Committee, Dervan Malcolm, Power 106FM, Akelia Lawrence-Maitland, Chair, Fundraising Committee, and Stanley Dennis, Golden Krust Franchise Owner

The afternoon was jointly hosted by Mr. Dennis and Omar Hawthorne, Director of Franchise Development and Community Affairs, along with Latalya Morrison from their marketing department.  Tasty Golden Krust treats were served up all backed by music provided by DJ Leroy. Also on hand was Power 106 FM broadcasting live both in New York and in Jamaica. Radio personality Dervan Malcoln kept the community and donors informed through live interviews with JAMPACT's members and volunteers.

Mr. Hawthorne and Mr. Dennis also noted the  importance and value of sharing and giving back to the community through partnerships with organizations such as JAMPACT. Since the start of the drive over 8 years ago, thousands of children have benefited. Both students and teachers look forward to this much needed aid come September.
