C.H.I.C. Benefit Gala TODAY!
Updated CHIC BannerIn its efforts to raise $100,000 to rebuild Maxfield Park Children's Home Basic School in Jamaica, JAMPACT will host the 2012 C.H.I.C. Benefit Gala on Saturday, June 16th at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music in New York, NY. The event's goal is to entertain and drive home the importance of the organization's cause of early childhood education and raise the monetary funds needed for construction of the new Maxfield Park Basic School.

The C.H.I.C. Benefit Gala will feature fabulous fashions from designer, Terese Sydonna (click here to view one of Terese's shows), the presentation of the prestigious JAMPACT Founders Award to Jamaican author, journalist and former member of JAMPACT, Kellie Magnus, great food, fine wines and much more. The C.H.I.C. event also acknowledges Jamaica's 50th Independence Anniversary Celebration and Jamaica Diaspora Day.

To date, JAMPACT has raised 20% of the needed funds for the rebuilding project. Maxfield Park Basic School (like most) in its impoverished area, receives little or no funding from the government but even more significantly, is a school whose entire student population is either orphaned or abandoned. JAMPACT's efforts are not just to erect a building, but provide a solid foundation and invest in the lives of our children for an impactful future. All proceeds raised will go towards Maxfield Park. Click here to purchase your tickets. Regular admission is $100.00.

For tickets and more information please contact fundraising@jampact.org or http://chicbenefitgala.eventbrite.com.

During its service trip to Kingston last year, JAMPACT learned that Crescent Road Basic School, one of its adopted schools, had been without electricity for several months due to approximately 12 months of arrears on their utility payments. After determining that the school would likely be able to cover ts electricity costs, once the metering is separated from that of the adjoining church building, JAMPACT provided over US$1,500 to cover the outstanding bill and restore power to the school. As part of its effort to improve the school's operation, JAMPACT will also cover the cost of separating the electric metering and new kitchen appliances, which are projected to require an additional US$1,500.

JAMPACT's assistance is a part of its Adopt-a-school Program, which also includes the Maxfield Park Children's Home Basic School, for which it is currently raising the funds necessary to construct a new school building to replace an outdated and dilapidated structure.  Central to this fund raising campaign is the upcoming C.H.I.C. Gala on June 16th at the Dimenna Center for Classical Music in New York City, the proceeds of which will benefit the Maxfield Park Project.
