I have just returned from an exciting and relaxing trip to Kingston, Jamaica. During my getaway, I set two goals: relax (eat and sleep a lot) and visit JAMPACT's adopted schools. Once I stepped off the plane, collected my luggage and completed the customs process, I rushed outside coatless (for the first time in months) to take in some of Jamaica's hot sun and to have a drink of fresh coconut water.  Then, it was time for ice cream at Devon House, two scoops of course, one rum raisin and one Devon stout.

Well, after two days of eating, sleeping, relaxing and adjusting to the warm weather, I made arrangements to visit JAMPACT's adopted schools. Maxfield Park Basic School was my first stop. Although I arrived too late to meet the students, I met with two motivated and passionate young female teachers. The teachers spoke about the challenges they faced working with children who have who have been abandoned and witnessed too many of life's tragedies at a far too young age.
