The 2008 NYC ACTSO Local "Olympics of the Mind" Competition

(901 Classon Avenue , two block from Eastern Parkway and across the street for the Brooklyn Museum)
Train Directions: #2 and 3 subway stops at the Brooklyn Museum station, one block away.
We will be needing a host of volunteers to assist with the days activities. We need people to serve as facilitators to work with the judges, as room monitors, as runners, as students' registration desk staff and to help with serving breakfast and lunch. Jamaica's recently appointed Ambassador to the United States of America, (USA) His Excellency Anthony Johnson and the Consul General of Jamaica, New York, Hon Geneive Brown Metzger will be meeting Jamaicans living in New York City at a welcome reception to be held at the Elegant Rose Hall, 4848 White Plains Road, Bronx, NY 10470 on Saturday, April 19, 2008 starting at 7:00 pm.
The reception is being hosted by Generation 2000 (USA) Inc., (G2K) and sponsored by several Jamaican-owned companies. "We are providing a forum for ordinary Jamaicans as well as local leaders to meeting a interact with our ambassador and consul general," Patrick Maitland, chairman of the organizing committee noted.
Ambassador Johnson has pledged to use his tenure in Washington to strengthen the historic ties of friendship and co-operation between Jamaica and the United States He also said he would work to facilitate greater access for Jamaican goods and services to the US market, while seeking to ensure greater levels of American foreign investment in key sectors in the island.
Consul General Brown Metzger said she was very excited about her new assignment and looked forward to meet with a wider cross-section of the Jamaican constituency in the pivotal Tri-State area of New York , New Jersey and Connecticut

This free, one day Jamaica Youth Forum, geared toward South Florida high school and college students, seeks to enlighten and engage our young leaders in discussion relevant to their success in the U.S. and abroad.
