New York, NY – Monday, December 7, 2009. Jamaica Impact, Inc., On December 16, 2009, JAMPACT will be hosting its Annual Christmas Treat for each of its four adopted basic schools across Kingston at the Olympic Gardens Civic Centre, on 119B Olympic Way, Kingston 11, ,Jamaica, W.I. The participating schools include Cole's Basic School, Crescent Road Basic School, Maxfield Park Basic School, and St. Steven's. Two hundred and fifty children are expected to gather to participate in this annual Christmas celebration, and they will receive gifts of school supplies and toys that were obtained through the organization’s Annual School Supplies and Toy Drive.

The School Supplies and Toy Drive was deemed a huge success and as on November 7, 2009 volunteers and members of JAMPACT gathered together to pack and sort over 500 backg-packs, several gross of pens and pencils, notebooks, rulers, paint sets, crayons, and more than 400 reading and storybooks. The supplies are expected to benefit other children in other schools besides JAMPACT’s adopted basic schools. The supplies have been shipped in ten barrels and will get to Jamaica in time for distribution at the Christmas Treat.

Special guestsGuests expected to also be in attendance at the Christmas Treat include: Dr. Rebecca Tortella-Greenland (Advisor to Minister Andrew Holness and longtime JAMPACT member) and Nadine Sutherland (well known Jamaican singer/artiste). “Our schools decided to celebrate the treat together this year, as oppose to individually as we have done in the past,” says JAMPACT’s President Akelia Lawrence, who be present for the Christmas Treat, “And JAMPACT is ensuring, through financial and in-kind support, that our kids truly experience the joys of Christmas: gift receiving and merriment.”

In addition to the Christmas Treat, JAMPACT will climax the season of giving by also be sponsoring the renovation of the playground at St. Steven’s Basic School, a project that costs over $480,000JMD (over $5,000US). during the Christmas season as a part of our Adopt-A-School program. This renovation will be completed during the Christmas school break, so that the children will start their new year with quality and safety recreational area. This project is being completed under JAMPACT’s Adopt-A-School Program.
